Douglas J. Futuyma

Douglas J. Futuyma is a Distinguished Professor of Ecology and Evolution at Stony Brook University. His research concerns speciation and the evolution of interaction between species. He is the author of the textbooks Evolutionary Biology and Evolution and of Science on Trial. Futuyma was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1996 and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences in 2006. His lecture will touch upon “some aspects of the extraordinary progress” that has been achieved in evolutionary biology since the pub- lication of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species 150 years ago.
